Founding and early team
Bitget was founded in 2018. Its official account describes a founding team with traditional-finance backgrounds that began exploring blockchain before starting the exchange.
Bitget’s official overview does not name a complete list of founders. The project database RootData identifies Sandra Lou as a co-founder; that attribution should be read alongside the company’s own account rather than treated as a complete founder list.
Copy trading becomes a focus
Bitget says it launched its copy-trading feature in May 2020. Copy trading allows a user to follow another trader’s positions or strategies, subject to the product’s settings and restrictions.
Following another trader does not remove the possibility of loss, and previous performance does not guarantee future results. Users should understand allocation, fees, and the risks of the relevant product.
Beyond derivatives
Over time, Bitget expanded beyond its derivatives-oriented beginnings to offer spot trading and additional tools. Its copy-trading offering also grew to include different market types.
The wider Bitget ecosystem has also included wallet and Web3-related products. Features and supported markets vary across regions, so the version available to a user should be checked directly with the provider.
