What Gate Card is
Gate Card is the payment card of the Gate exchange. It lets you spend digital assets held in your Gate account at merchants that accept Visa or Mastercard, online or in stores. At the moment of payment, the crypto is converted into the currency the merchant charges in.
Gate offers virtual and physical versions. Gate says virtual cards are usually approved within 3 to 5 minutes, and the card can be added to Apple Pay and Google Pay. Which card you get, Visa or Mastercard, and which features it has depend on where you live and on the partner that issues it.
Two ways the card is funded
Gate describes two spending modes. Which one applies depends on the card you hold:
- Instant spend: the card draws directly on a Gate account you choose, such as Gate Pay, your Spot account or Simple Earn. In this mode, Gate supports USDT, BTC, ETH and GT.
- Prepaid: you convert crypto from Gate Pay or your Spot account into fiat and top up the card balance before you spend. Gate says this mode supports more assets, depending on the card, the issuer and the region.
Card versions by region
Gate Card is not one product with the same terms everywhere. In 2026, Gate’s pages and announcements describe several versions:
- Gate Card through the main Gate app, for users in countries and regions that Gate does not restrict. Gate’s help center lists card names such as Classic, Platinum and Signature, each with its own fee and limit pages.
- A separate card from Gate US, launched in July 2026 for eligible US customers. It is a Visa prepaid card issued by Lead Bank, with the program managed by Bridge, and it spends supported stablecoins such as USDC.
- A crypto-linked Visa card announced on October 8, 2026, which Gate said is expected to reach more than 40 countries and territories. Gate has not published a full list of those markets or a date for the full rollout.
Who can apply
You need Level 2 identity verification on Gate, and some cards also ask for proof of address dated within the last three months. In a July 2026 announcement, Gate said it had expanded coverage and that proof of address and a second identity check were no longer required, so requirements differ between cards. Gate Card is only offered in countries and regions that Gate does not restrict, and Gate and its issuing partners can reject an application after their own review.
Fees
Gate’s help center lists these fees for its Classic and Platinum cards:
- No fee to issue a virtual or physical card, and no monthly or inactivity fee.
- Crypto conversion: 0.90% of each transaction of 2 USD or more, or 0.05 USD for smaller transactions.
- Foreign exchange: 0.40% on spending in currencies other than US dollars.
- ATM withdrawals: 2%, and the ATM operator or issuer may charge more. Replacement card: 25 USD. Chargeback: 30 USD.
Cashback tiers
Gate pays cashback as points: each eligible US dollar spent earns 1 to 8 points depending on your tier, and 100 points can be redeemed for 1 USDT, or for GT. Your tier is set by your Gate VIP level or your card spending in a month, whichever is higher, and a new tier takes effect from the next calendar month. See the table below.
Cashback rates and caps
| Tier | Gate VIP level | Or monthly card spend | Cashback | Monthly cap |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| T0 | VIP 0–4 | Any | 1% | 5 USDT |
| T1 | VIP 5–7 | $500 | 1% | 50 USDT |
| T2 | VIP 8 | $3,000 | 2% | 100 USDT |
| T3 | VIP 9 | $6,000 | 3% | 150 USDT |
| T4 | VIP 10–12 | $10,000 | 5% | 250 USDT |
| T5 | VIP 13–14 | $15,000 | 8% | 400 USDT |
Rates and caps as listed in Gate’s cashback FAQ in 2026. Each tier also caps the points earned on a single transaction. Check the Gate app for the current figures.
What does not earn cashback
Points are only paid on eligible purchases. Gate excludes, among others:
- Payments taken directly from a fiat balance, as well as fees, deposits and withdrawals.
- Purchases that are reversed or refunded.
- Certain merchant types, such as financial services, buying or topping up stored-value cards, foreign currency, money orders and traveler’s checks, and money transfers.
Spending and ATM limits
For the Classic and Platinum cards, Gate lists spending limits that rise with your tier, from 10,000 USD per transaction and 50,000 USD per month at the lowest tier. ATM withdrawals are capped at 5,000 USD a day, 15,000 USD a month and 50,000 USD a year. You can ask Gate support for a higher spending limit, which it reviews case by case.
Things to consider before you apply
In many countries, paying with crypto counts as selling it, so each purchase may be a taxable disposal. The conversion and foreign exchange fees also reduce the value of the cashback, and the 1% rate at the lowest tier is capped at 5 USDT a month.
Your funds stay on a centralized exchange, and crypto balances are not bank deposits. Read the card terms for your region before you apply, because fees, cashback, limits and availability differ between card versions and can change.
