Huobi’s beginnings
HTX traces its history to Huobi, founded in 2013 by Leon Li (Li Lin). The exchange began with digital-asset spot trading and grew during the early development of cryptocurrency markets.
The exchange’s history includes significant geographic and regulatory changes. HTX states that Huobi withdrew from mainland China in 2021; availability today depends on the relevant service and jurisdiction.
Derivatives and product expansion
An HTX timeline records the launch of coin-margined delivery contracts in 2018, followed by coin-margined and USDT-margined perpetual contracts in 2020. These additions moved the platform beyond its early spot-trading focus.
Its published history also records the introduction of futures copy trading in 2022. Derivatives and copy trading involve material risks and may not be available to every user.
From Huobi to HTX
In September 2023, Huobi announced that its global brand would change to HTX. The announcement coincided with the exchange’s tenth anniversary and presented the change as a new phase for the brand.
A name change does not by itself establish continuity of any specific offer, account arrangement, or legal entity. Check the current provider and terms for your region.
